Jumping into January

After the wonderful Christmas break, everyone jumped right back into action on returning to school. 'An Aimsir' was our theme in Irish while in maths we worked on fractions and graphs. We had great fun gathering data and recording it on various types of graphs. One of the big highlights of January was the introduction of 'Boardgame Fridays'. Popular boardgames like ludo, snakes and ladders, othello, frustration and various card games were looked forward to and enjoyed by everyone.

'Féile na hInse' made a return to the classroom this year with all the boys and girls entering this annually held art competition. Fabulous pictures on the themes of 'Ar Scoil', 'Mo Chairde' and 'Faoin Tuath' were created by the boys and girls.

The end of January saw us keeping our wonderful traditions alive as we made St. Brigids crosses. The boys and girls showed great enthusiasm and determination as they learned how to weave the rushes into crosses - traditions we hope they will continue for many years to come. We also took inspiration from St. Brigids Cloak and created our own with different materials we found in the classroom.

As we say goodbye to January, we look ahead to February and lots more fun and learning. Check back on here next month to see what we get up to!!
